John Terrance "Terry" Gavin
October 23, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Terrance “Terry” Gavin, aged 86 years. Terry passed away at Maplewood Manor on October 23rd, with family by his side. Originally from Tignish, Terry was the son of the late Terrance Gavin and the late Gertrude (A’Hearn) Gavin.
Terry was a fun-loving man, always ready to share a story of days gone by or give a big hello and a smile to anyone he met. When asked how he was doing, he always had a big smile, gave you a double thumbs-up and replied with either “A-1!” or “The very best!”. The care and love that Terry received at Maplewood Manor in Alberton was exceptional, and the family is very appreciative and grateful for all of their care and attention for Terry over the years. The family is also deeply touched by the kindness and compassion they showed us as we sat with Terry during his last two days. The staff at Maplewood truly make the manor a home to the many residents that are fortunate enough to live there.
Terry is survived by his wife Helen (Millman) Gavin, his children Alan (Joan Ann), Sharon (Bill) Snyder, Rodney (Lisa), Paul (Charmaine), Lynn (Brent) Champion and Paula (Paul) Gaudet, his grandchildren Amanda (Jonathan) Bernard, Justine, Ashley (Jake), Josh, Mikayla (Jax) Harper, Carson (Santana), Nathan (Michaela), Kaitlin, Colby (Hope) and André, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters Maureen Pemberton, Joyce MacArthur, and Eleanor. Terry was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law Ed Millman, mother-in-law Florence (Kinch) Millman, his sisters Eileen Card and Jean McPhee, brother Clifton, brothers-in-law Howie McPhee and Clayton Pemberton.
Internment will happen at a private family service. Any donations in Terry’s memory can be made to the Maplewood Manor in Alberton.
