It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Doucette on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Maplewood Manor, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Miminegash PEI on May 29, 1940, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew and Martha Winnifred(Thibodeau) Gallant. She later made her home in St. Edward, where she built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, love and kindness.

Janet dedicated many years of service to both Western Hospital and Tignish Fisheries. She was known for her strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. Her greatest joy, however was her family. She loved deeply, welcomed everyone with warmth and made countless memories through her wonderful cooking and baking.

In her later years, Janet made Maplewood Manor her home. There she became affectionaterly known as "Nan" to many of the staff, who loved her dearly and became an extension of her family. Their kindness, compassion, and friendship brought her great comfort and joy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Arlene(Gary), and Debbie;and her cherished grandchildren, Greg, Thish(Dwayne), Aaron(Terrilynn), Cory(Voula),Gina(Brody) and Sarah. and her adored great-grandchildren, Brayden,Nicholas, Tyson, Karlee, Aiden, Ben, Abby, Megan, Tyra, Cameron, Zack, Zoie, Tia, Gavin and Jarvis, all of whom brought endless happiness to her life.

Janet is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Joyce(the late Joe), Joan(the late Louis), Ruth(the late George), Dot, Terry(Brenda) and Alfred(Kay), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and the Perry family, who will miss her dearly.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved partner Clifford, her parents Andrew and Martha Winnifred(Thibodeau) Gallant, and her siblings, Gordon(Cora) and Goldie(Bobby), and son in law Reggie.

Janets legacy is one of unconditional love, kindness, strength, and generosity. She touched countless lives with her warm smile, caring heart and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Resting at West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Rd. St.Louis PEI

Visitation will take place Friday August 7, 2026 from 7:00 to 9:00pm.

Funeral will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Rd. on Saturday August 8, 2026 at 10:00 am with Fr. Praveen as officiant.

Interment in the church cemetery following the mass.

Memorial donations to the Recreation Department of Maplewood Manor would be greatly appreciated.
