James A. MacKey

James Alfred MacKey of Greenmount passed away peacefully Tuesday Sept. 27, 2011 in his 81st year at the Western Hospital, Alberton. Beloved husband of 48 years to Hazel (nee Ellsworth).
Loving father of John (Diane), Chateauguay, Que., Carl, Charlottetown, Peter, Alberton and Paul, Greenmount. Dear grandfather to Jason, Jennifer and Jessica MacKey, Chateauguay, Que. and his furry friend Cody.
Jim was born June 6th, 1930 to the late Alfred and Mary (nee MacMillan) Mackey of Greenmount. He was the eldest son of 12 children, a hard worker and very mechanically inclined. He left home at a young age and after various jobs he settled down at The Northern Electric, Montreal, where he stayed for 35 years. In the last 11 years of retirement, Jim returned to PEI back to his roots where he enjoyed the simple life and being near his family. Jim was a dear brother and will be greatly missed by Claude, Greenmount, Roy (Millie), Brampton, On., Leigh (Judy), Wasaga Beach, On., Beverly (Carl) Ellsworth, Palmer Road, Roland (Joanne), Greenmount and Donna (Les) Zaba, Innisfil, On. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Marjorie MacKey-McInnis, Charlottetown, Angela (Andy) Gallant, Summerside, Anne (Eugene) Bernard, Tignish, Lucille Ellsworth, St. Edward and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was predeceased by sisters Theresa, Adeline Gallant, Mary Gaudet-Caissie, Bernice Conway, brothers Lloyd and Ben and brothers-in-law Louis Gallant, Lionel Gaudet, Ted Caissie, Lloyd Ellsworth and Linus Conway and his in-laws Macrious & Thelma Ellsworth.
Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road with visiting hours for family and friends Wednesday 7 - 10 pm.
Funeral will be held Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton with funeral mass at 2:30 pm. Interment in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Western Hospital Equipment Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
