After a long and courageous battle on Sept. 2, 2020 Dorothy Ann Bernard of Maplewood Manor was taken home by the angels with her loving family by her side.
Formerly of Skinners Pond, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Josephine (Poirier) Doucette of Pleasant View.
Wife of the late Omer Bernard.
Left to mourn are her children David Bernard, Greenmount, Janet (Don) Getson, Anglo Tignish, Bobby Bernard, Skinners Pond, Angela (Dave) Hutchinson, St. Felix, Arthur Bernard, Skinners Pond, Omer “Joe” Bernard, Skinners Pond, Donnie (Claudette) Bernard, Tignish, Sharon Bernard, London, Ont.
Grandchildren Katy & Dawson Bernard, Tonya (Todd) Handley, Shane Getson (deceased), Taylor (Krista) Gaudet, Tracey (Sean) Naraine, Todd Hutchinson, Shannon Hutchinson, Garrett (Hillary) Hutchinson, Kelly (Sergio) Grice, Megan (Nathan) Strongman, Stacey Bernard, Jessica (Ryan) Bernard, Jesselle Bernard plus 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by siblings Leo (Doris) Doucette, Summerside, Victor Doucette, Tignish Seniors Home, Gladys Gorrill, Summerside, Diane (Victor) Hogan, Mill River, Marlene (Ron) Stuart, Covehead, sister-in-law Theresa Doucette, Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, brothers-in-law Gerald Gaudet, Wilfred McCue and numerous nieces, nephews, Bluegrass friends and neighbours.
She was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law Rita & Louis Perry, Henry Doucette, Doris & Emile Gaudet, Lloyd Gorrill, In-laws Tom & Maggie Bernard, Marguerite & Alfred Perry, Lillian & George Rayner, Julia & Rasburn Bryan, Elsie & Henry MacCallum, Arnold & Amy MacCallum, Esther & Nelson Gaudet, Vida Gaudet, Elliott & Beatrice Bernard and Shirley McCue.
Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road visiting hours for family and invited friends Friday evening. Funeral mass for family and invited guests will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road Saturday Sept. 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
